Hurricane Hugo: “Storm of the Century”
In 2006 Hurricane Katrina made international headlines as the most devastating storm to strike the Continental United States in modern history. Two decades earlier, Hurricane Hugo labeled, “Storm of the Century,” left a wide swath of destruction in its wake that was felt from Charleston to Rock Hill and beyond. The storm’s impact on the Winthrop campus is interpreted in “Hurricane Hugo: Storm of the Century,” a new photographic exhibition that will be held at Dacus Library through September to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the storm.
