Fact or Fiction:

 There were covered walkways on campus connecting the buildings.

Fact:

Until Byrnes Auditorium was built in 1939 there were covered walkways connecting every building on campus. The most prominent covered walkway was the one that connected Margaret Nance Hall to Peabody Gymnasium.*

 

*Peabody was razed in 2007 and was located where the DiGiorgio Student Center now stands.

  1. To the students of my time (1942-46) the great thing about the buildings being connected is that to get to class you did not need to have a raincoat or heavy coat to get to the classroom or the dining hall. Even the hallways connecting buildings were heated.
