Feeling a little burned out from school and/or work? Looking for something to read for fun or a movie to watch this weekend? Well take a look at our Paperback and Popular DVD collection! It’s located at the top of the stairs on the second floor. You’ll find spinning racks with paperback books and a flat bookshelf which houses the DVDs and the overflow of paperbacks. Although most of the books you will find in this section are fiction, the non-fiction lovers can find some good titles too.
These materials check out with the same loan period that our general collection materials do, but you will discover that they aren’t organized with a formal call number label; instead, we organize them by a colorful label that has a letter on it. The color of the label represents the genre (see the chart below) and the letter on the books is based on the first letter of the author’s last name, whereas the letter on the DVDs is based on the first letter of the title.
Use this label color chart to find the genre you’re looking for:
|Popular Fiction = Red||Comedy = Red|
|Romance = Blue||Romance = Blue|
|Mystery & Suspense = Green||Mystery & Suspense = Green|
|Literature = Yellow||Drama = Yellow|
|Science Fiction = Lavender||Science Fiction = Lavender|
|Biography = Pink||Western = Pink|
|Nonfiction = Orange||Action = Orange|
|Humor = Royal Blue||Documentary = Royal Blue|
Just remember, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, ask a reference librarian located at the Information Commons desk!
