Need to place an interlibrary loan request? If you’ve used interlibrary loan much in the past couple of years you’ll notice when you go to place a request that things have changed a little – we think for the better.
To place an interlibrary loan request you’ll still use the Interlibrary Loan link from the library’s homepage. Then select the Click here to login to your ILL account link. You then sign in with your Winthrop email address and password. If you have not set up an ILL account in the past you will be prompted to do so before you can place an ILL request. You’ll then see the following screen:
To place a request, you’ll choose either ‘New Loan Request’ or ‘New Copy Request’. For placing article or chapter requests, select ‘New Copy Request’; for all other requests (books, dvds, etc. that cannot be sent electronically) select ‘New Loan Request’.
Now when copy requests (articles or chapters sent electronically) are received they are attached to your ILL account – just login to the ILL system to get the pdf. We recommend downloading it to a more permanent location on your computer or a flash drive as these pdfs will only stay in your account for two weeks. You can also log into the ILL system at any time to view the status of your copy and loan requests. If you need to edit your contact information or send an email to ILL staff you can do that through this new interface as well.
Of course if there are any questions or concerns, you can email Phillip Hays or call 803/323-2304. Happy ILL requesting!
